Sanyo Xacti S50 camera

Sanyo has announced the Xacti S50, a 5MP compact camera that will begin its sales in Germany. Its lens will have 2x optical zoom and a substantial aperture range of f/2.8 in wide to f/4 in telephoto. The preview LCD will be a standard 2.5 inches, but Sanyo's LTPS technology should reduce power consumption, and an Auto-Adjust function will scale brightness based on ambient light. Users will be able to create on-camera slideshows with special effects such as background music and post-processing. Users who take self-portraits will note a tiny mirror by the lens barrel. An unusual feature for a compact camera is a manual focus mode, allowing better precision in difficult lighting situations. The S50 will premiere at Ringfoto in November for the cost of €99 ($65) including VAT.
