Fujitsu HDTV Media PC
Fujitsu today introduced its first 2007 computers, including a rare hybrid HDTV and PC. The DESKPOWER TX90U is one of the first all-in-one computers to include a full-size HDTV screen: measuring 37 inches, the panel is capable of a true 1080p resolution and is large enough to watch from a comfortable distance, Fujitsu says. The computer inside is similarly designed to play and record HD video. A Blu-Ray drive is built into the PC component of the higher-end TX95 models for playing and authoring up to 50GB dual-layer discs; every model, the company says, accelerates playback through Intel's new, lower-cost 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics chip with 256MB of memory. A minimum 400GB hard drive and a digital TV tuner add PVR functions to the computer, which can record any analog signal as well as over-the-air digital broadcasts. Fujitsu will ship the DESKPOWER to Japan by February, with a basic model using a DVD-RW drive and 1GB of memory shipping for $4,125 and a 2GB Blu-Ray version retailing for $4,980.
Details of the company's new notebooks can be found after the jump.
Alongside its HDTV, the computer maker also unveiled its Loox T-series notebooks. Divided into the T50 and T70 models, the 10.6-inch widescreen is ultraportable without losing features, Fujitsu boasts. The full system weighs only 2.2 pounds with a built-in DVD-RW drive and will run for up to 4.8 hours on its standard battery courtesy of an ultra-low voltage 1.2GHz Celeron M (T50) or Core Solo (T70) and an LED-backlit display; an extended battery will drive the system for up to 10.4 hours. Special T50U and T70U versions of the new Loox also incorporate 1Seg tuners for digital TV broadcasts. The T-series will be ready in several color options by the time of the Windows Vista launch on January 30th and will start at a price of $1,660.
