GE Digital Cameras
General Electrics today revealed its General Imaging brand, representing the company's very first entry into digital cameras. Co-founded by Takeyoshi Kawano, who helped design Sony's iconic VAIO and Walkman lines, GI hopes to focus primarily on higher-quality designer cameras: every model will ship with high ISO ratings, image stabilization, and a stitch mode for creating panoramas, the company says.
Early specifications and photos are available after the jump.
Two models will be available at launch. The G1 (pictured) will be a relative entry-level model with a 7-megapixel sensor, 3X optical zoom, and a 2.5-inch LCD; a range-topping, 12-megapixel model with a larger 3-inch screen will arrive at the same time. A photo printer will complete the lineup. All three devices will see a complete unveiling at the PMA expo on March 8th and should be delivered to North America just a month later, in April. International launches are planned for later in 2007.
