Toshiba A205 and P205
Toshiba late Sunday introduced two fresh notebook lines that are its first to include 802.11n wireless. Higher-spec models in the new 15.4-inch Satellite A205 and 17-inch Satellite P205 models both pack Intel's Wireless Wi-Fi Link chipset for the improved wireless linkup and a webcam to take advantage of the speed; most also carry Toshiba's in-house Labelflash DVD-RW burners for writing disc labels, a Core 2 Duo, and 2GB of RAM. A205 models have the option of as much as 280GB of hard drive space across two drives as well as a 128MB GeForce Go 7300 for graphics.
Pricing is also important, says Toshiba, as the P205-S6237 is the company's first-ever 17-inch notebook to reach $999 by sporting a 1.73GHz dual-core Pentium T2080, 1GB of RAM, and 120GB of storage. The A205 starts at a similar price with a 1.73GHZ Core 2 Duo and a slightly larger 160GB drive (versus 120GB) in exchange for the smaller screen.
Both computer lines should be available online and in retail shops this week.
