Lexmark's wireless inkjets
Lexmark on Tuesday introduced an affordable range of wireless printers with its new 2007 product line as well as two . Eight of Lexmark's 12 new inkjet printers offer wireless capabilities, including its new four-in-one, three-in-one and single-function printers. Expected to ship in the second quarter of 2007, the new line includes the Lexmark X4550 Wireless All-in-One (AIO), the Lexmark Z1420 Wireless Color Printer, and the Lexmark X3550 Color All-in-One with wireless as an optional feature. The printers, compatible with 802.11b/g wireless protocols, are backed with Lexmark's exclusive Protection Guarantee featuring next-business day replacement for up to one year after purchase.
The compact Lexmark X4550 Wireless All-in-One features integrated wireless printing, USB 2.0 connectivity, printing at speeds up to 26 pages per minute (ppm) black and 18 ppm color as well as 4800x1200 dpi printing resolution. In addition, it prints borderless photos with or without a computer from digital memory card slots, USB flash drives or PictBridge compatible digital cameras. The all-in-one also offers standalone one-touch color copying at speeds up to 17 ppm black and 11 ppm color and 48-bit flatbed color scanner functionality. It is expected to ship in the second quarter for $130.
The Lexmark Z1420 (below left), featuring a contemporary design with a small footprint for elegant display and easy placement, is a single function six-color printer that delivers print speeds up to 24 ppm black and 18 ppm color. Users can print borderless photos up to 8.5-by-11 inches -- that resist fading for up to 65 years when color cartridge when an optional photo cartridge is used with Lexmark Premium Photo Paper. It will ship this quarter for $80.
The Lexmark X3550 Color All-in-One (above, right) offers optional wireless functions; fast print speeds (24 ppm black and 17 ppm color); and one-touch copy/scan and professional photo printing options. Using the 48-bit flatbed scanner, users can scan back photo proof sheets for quick and easy photo prints or can print borderless photos -- with or without a computer -- from digital memory card slots, USB flash drives or PictBridge compatible digital cameras. It will ship later this quater for $80.
Budget-oriented offerings due later in 2007
In addition to its wireless-enabled printers, Lexmark has introduced two new entry-level printers, the Lexmark X2500 Color All-in-One and the Lexmark Z1300 Single-Function Inkjet Printer. Both offer advanced printhead technology and Lexmark's vibrant evercolor inks. Designed for students and other budget-conscious consumers, the Lexmark X2500 AIO ($60) offers 22 ppm black and 16 ppm color print speeds along with high-quality 4-by-6 inch edge-to-edge prints. It features a seven-button operator panel and a special indicator light that tells consumers when their cartridges are running low on ink. Lexmark's new Z1300 series Single Function Inkjet Printer offers fast printing speeds of up to 22 ppm black and 16 ppm color and easy-to-use photo printing features for under $25. Both are expected to ship later this year.
Lexmark Return Program offers discounts
The Lexmark X4550, X3550, X2500, Z1420 and Z1300 offer inkjet consumers the opportunity to participate in the Lexmark Return Program, which gives a variety of ink supplies choices to help reduce printing costs while also benefiting the environment. Users who purchase Lexmark Return Program cartridges will receive an up-front discount compared to alternative equivalent cartridges in exchange for agreeing to return the used cartridges only to Lexmark for remanufacturing or recycling.
