Zepto GeForce 8600 Laptop

Notebook designer Zepto has just let slip multiple trade secrets by announcing its Znote 6625WD notebook for multimedia addicts. The system is the first known to ship with a 512MB version of the unannounced GeForce Go 8600, which (like the desktop GeForce 8600) fully supports the Vista-only DirectX 10 as well as next-generation OpenGL for better 3D performance and visual effects; it also promises the faster CPU and system bus speeds of Intel's future Santa Rosa architecture. Intel's Robson technology with built-in flash for faster load times is also standard.

Further backing the Znote's multimedia credentials is its video focus, which includes an HD DVD burner that can play movies at the full 1680x1050 resolution of the built-in 15.4-inch display or at 1080p through an HDMI output.

Pricing for the top-end model hasn't been announced, but Zepto fully expects its "first batch" of 6625WD models to arrive in mid-to-late May, accoring to company representative Roelof-Jan van Hoften. Base models with lower specifications should cost between $1,100 and $1,200 US and will ship worldwide. [via Laptopical]
