Meizu 'iPhone' to top 16GB?

Meizu miniOne 16GB

Full details of the miniOne have been revealed and could potentially top the iPhone it's meant to copy, according to a post made on Meizu's official forums. While the 3.3-inch touchscreen and WCDMA-based 3G wireless have been known for some time, the phone will gain a 16GB storage option -- the largest ever for any flash-based media player and double that of the still unreleased Apple device.

Performance will also be exceptional based on the company's claims. Every miniOne should have an unusually strong 128MB of memory and a 533MHz Samsung chip at its core; this added speed should let the miniOne play back 480p (720x480) video in MPEG-4 or WMV at full speed and without a loss of detail. A line-in connection will add support for mobile TV and other standards.

The release timeframe remains unchanged with all variants of the miniOne expected before the end of 2007. Prices, however, have been published with camera-equipped versions starting at $259 for the 4GB version and the 16GB flagship using the lower costs of the Chinese market to reach $453.

    How about innovating?

Ok, to some degree, all similar devices will have things in common. I think there will be a wave of large screen phones. Not a new idea. But this is just such a blatent rip off. Do American patents have any power in China? I'm not familiar with patent law and wonder if anyone has knowledge of this. If Apple has no legal power what options do they have to protect their IP?
