LG leaps into Santa Rosa
The South Korean division of LG has leapt onboard as the next company to announce laptops running Intel's Santa Rosa platform. Of the five X-Notes the highlight is the likely the 15.4-inch R500, which has the option of 2.0 or 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo chips, as well as 802.11n wireless and 120 to 160GB of hard drive space. Graphics are supplied by a 256MB GeForce 8600 GS, which has not yet been formally unveiled by Nvidia.
Also under wraps is the 128MB GeForce 8400 G card, used in all four of the other X-Notes except for the R200, which has a 128MB Radeon X2300. They also have just 1GB of RAM, and use Core 2 Duos rated at 1.8 or 2.0GHz. Depending on the model, buyers will also get either a 120 or 160GB hard drive, and a Super Multi DVD drive or a combo DVD/CD-RW model. Screen sizes range from 12.1 inches on the R200 to 15.4 inches on the E500. As might be expected given the advanced components, prices and launch schedules have yet to be set out. [via PC Joint]
