Pioneer plasma dates
Although Pioneer's new Project Kuro plasmas were announced yesterday, the company did not have dates or prices for the United States; these are now public. The soonest to arrive will be the PDP-4280HD and the PDP-5080HD, coming in June. They are 42- and 50-inch models, limited to an XGA native resolution, and will sell for $2,700 and $3,500. July will see the arrival of Elite PRO sets with similar specifications, but priced at $3,200 and $4,500.
The 1080p sets -- due in September -- will likewise have PDP and PRO versions, but will only be available in 50- and 60-inch sizes. The two PDPs will cost $5,000 and $6,500; the PROs will represent the top of the price scale, weighing in at $6,000 and $7,500.
