Samsung today also joined in the suite of notebook releases matching Intel's Santa Rosa unveiling with full Korean details of the Aura notebooks first revealed at CeBIT. The 12-inch Q45 will make some tradeoffs versus the edition destined for Europe: while the 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo and 1GB of memory remain intact, the ultraportable will step down its graphics to Intel's X3100 in exchange for a DMB tuner for over-the-air digital TV. It should also pack 120GB of hard drive storage.
Equally part of today's news are two 15.4-inch models. The R70 sits in the mid-range and adds to the performance of the Q45 with 128MB GeForce Go 8400 video; the X65, however, targets more performance-minded buyers with a speed increase to a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo, a much faster 256MB GeForce Go 8600 graphics chipset, and a larger 160GB disk. The improved video brings with it an HDMI output for connecting to a home theater.
Release dates and pricing for the systems haven't been made public, but the line should be available very shortly in Samsung's home country and will follow suit in Europe. [via Akihabara News]
