Two Top Santa Rosa laptops
The flood of Santa Rosa announcements continues, with Two Top joining NEC in pushing the platform for Japan. The premiere laptop is the ViP Note-ZS (pictured), which has a 15.4-inch WXGA (1280x800) display, a 2GHz Core 2 Duo, and Nvidia's newly-announced GeForce 8600M for video. The system comes stock with 2GB of RAM and 120GB of hard drive space, plus a Super Multi DVD drive. It should be available by the end of the month for 159,800 yen ($1,333).
The Progress GXT7500 should, in theory, completely dominate the ZS, since it has a 17-inch screen capable of 1080p, as well as a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo; the video card is only a GeForce Go 7950 GTX however, which despite twice the memory (512MB), is not capable of all the rendering effects of the 8600M.
The low-end system is the Lesance MS212IW-C2D-GT, which has similar specifications to the ViP Note-ZS, but defaults to integrated graphics and shrinks the screen to 12.1 inches. It should ship at an unspecified date for about $1,326; the GXT7500, meanwhile, will cost approximately $2,476. [via Akihabara News]
