Mystery 12th iPhone App
A 12th iPhone program appears to have reached the iPhone, according to a frame-by-frame study of the newly released ads. While distance footage of the iPhone shows the by now familiar 11-icon layout of the Apple device's front menu, one of the close-up shots in the "How-To" ad shows four icons at the bottom -- indicating that an extra icon has appeared higher up in the layout, pushing the remaining icons towards the bottom. The discrepancy is unusual as the ads all appear to demonstrate the actual screen rather than artificial shot overlays. Other ads appear to remain consistent.
Neither Apple nor AT&T has referenced features absent from the front menu first seen in January, suggesting that the official launch of the device will unveil at least one new utility. AT&T has recently implied that there will be more Google apps than the Maps tool known to be included with the iPhone. [via Macenstein]

Maybe I'm just being dense, but since they have buttons for mail, phone, safari, do you think it, I don't know, could possibly be, based on the look of the icon and all, be the 'Music' button.

Nevermind, just read elsewhere that the big focus isn't the middle of the picture, its the fact that, OMG, Settings is off to the right!

OK, I see what you're talking about. Looking above the bottom row ..... in this one pic there are 4 programs on the bottom and not 3.
Disregard my above blind post. ;)

iChat AV wouldn't work so well - the camera's on the wrong side of the device! With the iPhone, you're either looking at the camera OR the screen; AV would require that you be able to see both at the same time.
I remember thinking back in January when Steve demoed it "why on earth put the camera on the back?!"
I suppose it leaves open an opportunity for a 3rd party to build some sort of mirror/periscope attachment, but I suspect that would probably end up looking a wee bit daft! ;-)

Yea, you're right! The Settings icon is pushed to the right, and that's it! Boy howdy, that can't possibly mean that there's unreleased iPhone apps out there, and people can't possibly be excited over this!
You know, I've often heard you say you're just providing 'balance' to counter-act the Apple fan-boys, but you really don't. You're a troll. And not because I don't agree with you that this isn't a big deal, but because, simply, you're a troll.
Everyone else, sorry about that.
