ATT iPhone Plans
AT&T and Apple today have finally revealed the official service plans for the iPhone, all of which are unique to the carrier's normal offerings and reflect the special attention given to the device. Unlike traditional plans, all include a mixture of calling, data, and 200 SMS text messages to ensure that every phone has the same basic feature set. Crucially, all three plans to be made available for the device include unlimited Internet access through EDGE -- allowing every user to take advantage of the entire feature set without metering issues or worrying about the benefit of a specific plan, according to Apple.
"We want to make choosing a service plan simple and easy, so every plan includes unlimited data with direct Internet access, along with Visual Voicemail and a host of other goodies," says Apple CEO Steve Jobs. "We think these three plans give customers the flexibility to experience all of iPhone's revolutionary features at affordable and competitive prices."
Prices are separated only by calling minutes, both Apple and AT&T say. The entry-level $60 monthly plan includes 450 regular minutes as well as 5,000 night and weekend minutes. Stepping up to the $80 plan doubles minutes to 900 while adding unlimited nights and weekends, while the top $100 plan extends daytime calling to 1,350 minutes. Unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling and rollover minutes are standard, AT&T says.
All three plans will be available alongside the iPhone's June 29th launch for individuals; family plans will be available for an unknown price. Each plan includes a one-time $36 activation fee.
