New Belkin bags & sleeves

Accessory maker Belkin has launched three new holders for laptops. Leading them is the Sling Bag, which stores laptops up to 15.4 inches in size, and is worn on a padded strap with a quick-release clip. A dedicated pouch holds cables and a power adapter, while another compartment can be used to hold a cellphone. Two color combinations are available: "jet/cabernet" and "chocolate/tourmaline." Either version is shipping for $50 from the Belkin website.

Those who need more space can turn to the new Messenger Bags, which are ready for either 15.4- or 17-inch computers. These also have padded straps, as well as the separate cable/adapter pouch; missing however is the cellphone slot. Current prices and color combinations are identical to the Sling Bag, but "dove/peony" and "dove/tarragon" colors should be coming soon as well.

Lastly, sleeves are being shipped in 14-, 15.4- and 17-inch sizes. Made of neoprene, they come in the same colors as the Messenger Bags, but vary substantially in price based on size: a 14-inch sleeve is $13 on the Belkin site, whereas as 15.4 inches is $30, and 17 inches costs $35. At retail the 14-inch sleeve is also $30.
