Toshiba Ships June Regza
Toshiba on Friday began shipping its larger Regza flat-panel TVs -- and previewed the company's biggest model to date. The 57-inch 57LX177 is one of the largest direct-view LCDs of any manufacturer and is a showcase for all of Toshiba's most recent developments, including a 120Hz panel to eliminate motion artifacts, a cold-cathode backlight with a wider color gamut, and "deep color" HDMI 1.3 which also supports controlling some devices through the TV. The set ships last of all the sets, arriving in July for $6,000.
Arriving in stores shortly are the company's 46-inch and larger Full HD sets. The premium 46-inch and 52-inch Cinema Series LX177 models share the same panel and display features in a smaller package and will be available for $3,000 and $4,000 respectively; the regular LX167 47-inch and 52-inch models keep the improved backlight and HDMI device control but use more conventional 60Hz panels to lower their prices to $2,500 and $3,500 each. All sets boast native 1080p and should be available as soon as today.
