Sophia nani media phone

The Japanese company Sophia will tomorrow premiere the nani, a high-end media phone. Evoking comparisons to the Apple iPhone, it is controlled entirely through a touchscreen, with other comparable features including Wi-Fi, a camera, and widescreen video playback. Several elements are in fact superior to the iPhone, such as its TV tuner, 4.3-inch display and 800x480 maximum resolution. The nani is however a Windows Mobile phone, and relies on swappable microSD cards instead of large internal memory. Pricing and release schedules have yet to be published. [via SCI FI Tech]

    Windows CE = IE 6

The Sophia Nani uses Windows CE, not Mobile.

CE comes with Internet Explorer 6.0. So it has a full browser in a 800x400 screen.

    Using SD cards

Swappable memory cards are an advantage. Nice to be able to carry a large number of movies, songs and photos on multiple chips. Not to mention third party apps.

    uhhhh...

Except it really limits the size of the OS and what you can do. Imagine if, instead of a normal MacBook an 60 GB drive, you owned a laptop that had 1 GB of non-volatile RAM and a dozen removable 10 GB hard drives (only one of which could be loaded at any given time). Do you think that would be a better experience or a worse experience?

    BTW

kdarling is clearly an astroturfer - he just signed up today and he has been leaving the same post at other sites. Unclear if he's paid by the phone manufacturer (or MSFT), or if he's just doing it on his own volition.

    Just signed up - yep

Bigmig - yep, it's personal interest. I signed up to correct the mistaken belief that it was WM or just another Chinese clone.
