   is this a new low?

   If Microsoft crawled on it's belly it would be above this! Just what underpaid, under-resourced and under-protected service men and women need, a music player that can barely be given away. Desperation or just desperate? Why not hand them out to those still without homes in New Orleans? Of course not, silly me, they'd have no way of charging the brown turds!

   That means, the value of these will drop HUGE and Microsoft will sell even less of them (if that is possible). I hope Microsoft stock holders are paying attention!!!

   Comments so depraved. Regardless of Microsoft's motives, at least they are thinking of our service people and their families. Over 3700 will not be coming home. We should be in the streets and after our whores in Congress who have no shame. Then we can get back to our pretties and thoughtless comments.

   Well if you had to give away your product to increase market share, who would you give it to? Wouldn't you choose an outlet that make it not seem that way? We criticize them here because we can. The media certainly can't laugh at them about it lest they be viewed as unpatriotic.

   Hmmm... if you think this is depraved tell me is giving soldiers a Zune really "supporting them".
   
   Apologies for getting political, but people throw the term "support our troops" around without understanding it and use it to label people who speak their mind as "unpatriotic". Hmmm, I though exercising the freedom to speak your mind is exactly patriotic - it's certainly what the USA was founded upon, wasn't it?
   
   So, if you think the comments are so depraved, what exactly have you done to "support our troops" Putting a bumper sticker on your car or repeating the phrase certainly doesn't do it.
   
   Now, back on topic, this is clearly a well thought-out PR stunt because no media outlet dare say anything bad about giving free stuff to the military personnel, whether or not they need it.

   let's get this straight

   So you're telling me the "Halo 3 Zune" doesn't actually play the game Halo, but "we'll name it that anyway?"
   
   Does this thing have the ability to play games?
   
   Is this just a weird brown color with funky designs that's not selling any units either, so now they have to find a place to dump the inventory and try to make themselves look good?
   
   I have no problem giving the troops a nice gift. The only issue here is that this approach is completely transparent, and rather insulting.
   
   A much better approach would have been to release a camouflage decorated unit for sale, where a matching unit would be sent to the troops, or the proceeds would help contribute to needed supplies or something like that. That sort of approach would be much better than dumping units as a way to try and increase one's stagnant market share.

   I am currenttly deployed to Iraq and think that supprting the troops can mean any number of things. I bet a lot of the people here havent done a damn thing to show they "supprt the troops". Im not giving anyone a hard time about it because I know not everyone has the means to show their support sometimes. All I am saying is that if you havent done anything dont talk c*** about what others do. Im not exactly a fan of the color either dont get me wrong. It will just be easier to lose out here. Microsoft has released quite a few things just for the military that have actually been worth buying though.
