Fast mobile, new lasers, scanners join HP Office line

In addition to several new consumer-oriented printers, HP today unveiled several additions to its office-targeted line of printers and scanners. The new products include what the company is calling the fastest mobile printer, a 35 page-per-minute inkjet, three new laser printers and a multifunction laser printer series, a sheet-fed scanner, and a flatbed scanner. In addition, HP debuted enhanced versions of HP Easy Printer Care Software and HP Marketing Resources software, as well as a new USB network print adaptor. The HP Officejet H470 Mobile Printer, which the company claims is the industry's fastest mobile printer, allegedly delivers print speeds of up to 23 pages-per-minute black and 16 pages-per-minute color. It offers optional wireless connectivity and a lithium-ion battery that prints up to 480 pages per charge. The new mobile printer is priced at $250 an won't be available until January 2008.

Also new are the LaserJet P1005 and P1006 (priced at $150 and $180 respectively), the company's smallest and most compact laser printers, which use a new monochrome spherical toner. The HP LaserJet P1505 Printer, priced at $200, also features the spherical toner, quick first page out functionality and print speeds up to 24 pages-per minute. The HP LaserJet M2727 MFP (multifunction printer), priced at $600, uses "Instant-on" for a fast first page out and sports enhanced network capabilities. It will be available in November.

Alongside the new prints, HP will ship a new USB Network Print Adapter that allows any of the aforementioned devices to be used with multiple PCs on the network. It carries a price of $70 an will be available in November. HP also updated its Easy Printer Care Software to version 2.3. It now features a new welcome screen with user tips and a process for accepting HP Proactive Support alerts.

A few new scanners were also included in today's slew. The HP Scanjet N7710 Document Sheet-feed Scanner, priced at $1000 and available in October, and the HP Scanjet N8420/N8460 Document Flatbed Scanner priced at $1200 and available in December. Both use ultra-sonic double feed detection, and offers duplex scan speeds. The HP Scanjet N7710 Document Sheet-feed Scanner also includes a 50-page automatic document feeder with an integrated slot for rigid or embossed business and ID cards.

the inkjet can print 3300 pages per minute, which means that it will print exactly 5 pages before running out of ink. Ink cartridges cost 90% the cost of the printer.
