Two new Casio cameras

Casio today unveiled two new EXILIM digital cameras featuring 8.1 and 10.1-megapixel sensors. The company's EX-V8 is designed as a slim camera with 7X optical zoom designed for quiet operation, while the EX-Z1080 offers four blur reduction technologies including a CCD-shift image stabilization mechanism. The 10.1-megapixel EX-Z1080 enables high sensitivity photography up to a maximum of ISO 6400, and is ideal for photographing darker scenes as well as reducing blur caused by shaky hands or subject movement, according to Casio. Both cameras incorporate the EXILIM Engine 2.0 image processing module which allows users to record movies in high-definition (H.264) alongside a YouTube Capture Mode that enables users to shoot as well as save movies at the optimum size, quality, and other settings for YouTube. Casio's EX-V8 is priced at $330, while the EX-Z1080 will ship for $280. The cameras are scheduled to arrive on store shelves next month.

The cameras come with "YouTube Uploader for CASIO" software that enables users to upload movies to YouTube in as few as two steps. The combination of face detection technology and an auto-tracking AF system using motion analysis helps to maintain sharp focus as well as correct exposure for a human face, according to the company.

Blur reduction technologies driven by the EXILIM Engine 2.0 image processing module are designed to set the most appropriate ISO sensitivity and shutter speed, while Anti Shake DSP reduces blur due to shaky hands and subject movement via high shutter speeds and elevated sensitivity settings. The cameras also come with a movie mode featuring electronic image stabilization.

EXILIM Hi-Zoom EX-V8

Casio's Hi-Zoom EX-V8 features 8.1 million effective pixels with 7X optical zoom, CCD-shift image stabilization, and a 2.5-inch LCD display. The camera also offers a high-speed continuous shutter for a maximum of four shots per second with a 2.0-megapixel image size, and ships in silver only.

EXILIM Zoom EX-Z1080

Casio's Zoom EX-Z1080 features 10.1 million effective pixels with 3X optical zoom, a "best shot" function with high-sensitivity shooting mode up to a maximum of ISO 6400, and a 2.6-inch widescreen LCD display. The EX-Z1080 takes a maximum of seven shots per second via a continuous shutter at 2.0-megapixels, boasts a battery life allowing up to 370 shots when fully charged, and comes in four colors which include gray, black, blue, and pink.
