Logitech drops MX5500 laser mouse, LCD keyboard combo

Logitech this morning began the month with the MX5500, its new premium keyboard and mouse set. The pair is the first to include the MX Revolution ergonomic laser mouse with its signature metal scroll wheel that can freely spin through very large documents. Its keyboard is unique to the set and revolves around a built-in LCD that displays and controls music, messages, and even the calculator; the zero-degree keyboard as well as the sloped mouse are said to provide a comfortable fit over hours of use.

The entire set links to a PC across Bluetooth 2.0, and includes shortcut keys on both the keyboard and mouse to Windows Vista-specific features like the Flip3D task switcher and the gadget sidebar. The MX5500 runs on any system using Windows 2000 or higher with a spare USB port and will arrive later this month for $170.
