Meizu M7 Development
Chinese media player designer Meizu is already developing a clone of the just released iPod touch, according to a brief statement by company president J. Wong on the official forums. While details are minimal and are accompanied by a quick mockup, Wong promises that the new device will have a 3-inch, wide-aspect touchscreen interface as well as a home button on the front face, much as with the new Apple player. The white coloring of the concept image is drawn directly from a source image for the existing M6 and might not reflect the finished design.
Feature and format support were left out of the initial imagery, though the player has been tentatively named the M7 -- suggesting that the device will be a bridge between the media-only M6 and the iPhone-influenced miniOne, also known as the M8. The latter is expected to launch in China before the end of the year with a slightly larger screen than the M7 at 3.3 inches and with full phone support, including 3G Internet access. Meizu's president declined to provide a release date for the M7, though the device is unlikely to be available before late 2008.

cheap knockoff wannabe

What a rip off. They even rip them self off (and admitted to using their own graphic from the mock up of another product) because they are too LAZY to make a proper graphic.
About that graphic, Chinese characters normally looks square, not rectangular. In their lazy-azz mock up, the width of characters are about 40% of proper dimensions. You think these lazy bums can produce a half working products? I don't think so.
--------------
By the way, why is the writer calling this company "media player designer"?
Since the poor quality of their mock up is apparent, it should be clear that there is no way this company should be call designer of anything. Although it's not really a counterfeit, it's more a cheap, inferior imitation, if it works.

I think it's pretty clear that this is a concept; article says it probably won't come out until end of next year.
In fact it's pretty clear they just sketched it out and are figuring out how to make a cheap knockoff that looks the same. Ho, hum. "Chinese counterfeiter to imitate iPod Touch!" Does this kind of 'news' really belong on macnn.com?

counterfiet

Counterfiets are common over there. Half of iPod counterfiet stuffs you don't even hear over here in U.S. Because there are so many, you just walk by it and ignore it.... but they are real cheap. Then you walk by an Apple Store nearby that sells the real deal iPod that no one can touch because they costs one to two months of their salary. U.S. pricing is exactly the same as over here. $400 iPod here will cost $400 over there after converting it back. This is why only Japan can offer real iPod becasue Japanese Yen currency rate is higher than U.S. dollars.
