Sony VAIO FZ Maya Hayuk
Sony today introduced its VAIO FZ Maya Hayuk Edition notebooks, marking the first time the PC designer has provided the 15.4-inch portable in the company's signature Graphic Splash trim. The new take on the notebook includes custom artwork by its namesake New York City artist that decks the outside lid in either a nature-themed "Grow" design or the patterned "Never Stop." But unlike earlier Graphic Splash models, these changes are not just applied to the outer lid, Sony says. A custom engraving on the inside bezel is backed by a matching desktop background and a video interview with Hayuk about the design. Buyers also contribute to the Creativity Explored charity for disabled artists.
Each of the notebooks is based on the top tier of the stock FZ series, with a Blu-Ray burner, a 2GHz Core 2 Duo, a 200GB hard drive, and a GeForce 8400M GT with HDMI output to pipe 1080p video to an HDTV. The Maya Hayuk systems are available now for $2,500 each and should ship by September 21st.

beautiful, but expensive

beautiful! but i think it is kind of weird people would actually spend a lot of money to buy a special design edition of a laptop instead of buying a design for their existing one? there are beautiful designs out there, e.g. at http://www.laptopskins.net - and they are even removable. so: way to go sony, i wish all the manufacturers would offer something like this.
