Cowon Q5W Wi-Fi player to hit in December

updated 12:20 pm EST, Thu November 29, 2007

Cowon Q5W coming in Dec.

Cowon has revealed that its Q5W media player, announced for the US earlier this month, will at last ship in early December. The player is unique in several respects; it supports 802.11b Wi-Fi for instance, but unlike Apple's iPod touch, can browse websites with and without Flash. The player also has a five-inch, 800x480 touchscreen, which can be optimized for either fingers or a stylus.

A Bluetooth receiver allows users to connect to speakers and headphones wirelessly, while component and composite ports allow output directly to TV sets. A bundled remote lets users remain in their seat while viewing or listening. Numerous audio and video codecs are supported as well, including MP3, OGG, MP4, DivX, XviD and more. Notably, while the player uses a version of Windows CE, it should be both Mac and PC compatible. 40 and 60GB sizes are are already available to order, at respective costs of $550 and $600.
