Xbox 360 Fall 2007 Details
Following through on its pledge to provide more details, Microsoft today published the full list of details for its Fall 2007 Dashboard Update for the Xbox 360. In addition to the Find Old Friends feature and the ability to download some original Xbox titles already confirmed by the company, the upgrade will also include the DivX support leaked earlier this month as well as an Inside Xbox feature that provides updated news from the console's website, similar to Sony's recently introduced PS3 Information Board.
Support for Apple devices attached to the game system's USB port will also be much stronger, Microsoft says. Although the iPhone and iPod touch will not be formally supported for normal audio and video streaming, the former will be properly recognized as a PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) camera. Both the iPod classic and third-generation iPod nano will be fully recognized with the update.
Other fixes include much improved video decoding performance, the ability to properly list podcasts and videos from new Zunes, an expanded personal profile, and improved parental controls with a timer to control the hours spent on games. The update is still scheduled to go live on December 4th and will be ready to download by 2AM Pacific.
