MasonIP video device ships
Wired Inc. has begun shipping its MasonIP network-attached video player and DVD decoder/proofer. The device is designed to deliver flexibility and high image quality for the most demanding playback options, decoding nearly every type of SD and HD video with the ability to output to virtually any professional monitor or consumer TV. The device includes an array of outputs that range from composite analog to HD-SDI digital, and includes a unique browser-based configuration to ease the setup process. The MasonIP is available for $3,500.
"You can easily navigate among hundreds or thousands of files, across multiple servers, and instantly play just what you want. No need to waste time burning a disc to test your DVD navigation; the Mason plays your VIDEO_TS folder just like a disc in a DVD player," Wired Inc. says. "You can even specify the region, language and parental control levels for accurate testing."
MasonIP plays MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.264, VC-1, and AVC streams at a rate of up to 50Mbps. Configuration is achieved by specifying an IP address using an included remote control, after which every other option is available for setup via a Web browser. The device supports changing output resolution and format, adding password protection, defining zoom levels, and configuring access to media servers. MasonIP Supports NFS (Network File Storage), SMB (Windows file sharing), and HTTP (Web-based) servers.
