diNovo mini and Z Cinema
Accessory maker Logitech will have two products available at the CES show floor geared towards home theater PCs, according to information released ahead of the show. The diNovo mini (pictured at top) scales back the full-size diNovo Edge to a compact form. In addition to smaller keys, it switches from a general trackpad to a directional pad and includes specialized media controls; in home theater environments such as Windows Media Center, the controls let users adjust sound and steer media playback without needing a separate remote. The smaller diNovo is officially intended for Windows XP and Vista systems and should be available later in January. Pricing is expected to reach $100.
A more universal product enroute is the Z Cinéma speaker set, according to Logitech. Although a 2.1-channel system, the Cinéma is built for Mac and PC owners who want a home theater experience without needing the space for rear-channel satellites; any system with 5.1-channel or greater output can simulate a full setup through SRS TruSurround HD processing, the company claims. The new Z-series speakers also ship with a far more powerful remote than most speakers that includes an iPod-like jog wheel for large lists, a directional pad, and media button controls both for general use and for Windows Media Center. The 3-inch drivers in the satellites are said to be laser-tuned for accuracy. Logitech ships the Z Cinéma at the end of the month and is likely to sell for $250. [via Tech Digest]
