Griffin products at CES 08

Griffin yesterday unveiled several new products at CES, with the releases centered on home, personal, and automotive audio products, with a few power-related items as well. Griffin’s popular iTrip saw another revision, dubbed the iTrip AutoPilot with SmartScan. The updated iTrip FM transceiver displays RDS information on any capable car stereo, while the new SmartScan technology automatically seeks out the three best FM frequencies to broadcast over. The new AutoPilot charger puts music controls within easy reach of the driver; the controls sit on the back of the charging unit. iTrip AutoPilot with SmartScan will ship during the second quarter for $100.

The recently introduced Evolve wireless speaker system line was also updated, with additional speakers and charging stations being made available. Griffin says that since the Evolve system is limitless, users can add any number of speakers to their setup. Additional speakers and charging stands with be available both separately or bundled; a two speaker/base kit sells for $200, while speakers are available for $100, and charge stations for $30. Evolve speakers and stands will be available in March.

Griffin’s TuneBuds Mobile ($40) expands on the company’s earbud offerings by integrating the company’s ControlMic, allowing users to control their iPhone in addition to listening to music. When in talk mode, ControlMic’s button either answers calls or sends them to voicemail, while music listeners can control play, pause, and skip functionality. SmartTalk ($20) allows users to plug in any set of normal headphones, and provides a noise-cancelling microphone and smart button to control calls and music on the iPhone. Both the TuneBuds Mobile and SmartTalk adapter will be available in January.

The PowerJolt SE ($20) uses an integrated cable to charge iPods in a car, while the PowerJolt Universal ($15) provides the same charger, but with an open USB port instead of a cable. Lastly, the PowerBlock Dual Universal power adapter ($15) gives users two USB ports to charge devices from an AC outlet, ranging from 100V to 240V. Griffin is also shipping a combination pack of the PowerBlock Dual and the PowerJolt Universal for $35. All of Griffin’s power products will ship in March, with the PowerBlock available late February.
