New Samsung LCDs unveiled

Samsung today unveiled its new series of 24- and 25.5-inch LCD monitors designed for entertainment and multimedia use. The pair of monitors support resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 with full 1080p HD resolution, HDMI inputs, and built-in multimedia speakers. Built-in multimedia speakers allow users to seamlessly participate in teleconferences or listen to videos and audio presentations without the need to use or purchase separate speakers. Samsung's 2493HM monitor is available for $600, while the 2693HM is priced at $700.

The SyncMaster 2693HM and 2493HM monitors both feature a four-way adjustable stand that provide for height, swivel, tilt, and pivot capabilities. A dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1 enables the 2493HM monitor to produce true-to-life image quality, according to Samsung, and both monitors feature a 5ms GTG response time that virtually eliminates blurring or ghosting.

Like all Samsung displays, the 2493HM and the 2693HM monitors are backed by a three-year limited warranty on labor and parts, including the backlight, as well as toll-free technical support for the life of the display. The 25.5-inch SynchMaster 2693HM and the 24-inch SyncMaster 2493HM monitors will be on display at Macworld Conference & Expo in the Samsung booth (no. S-1237) in the South Hall of the Moscone Center until January 18th.

    yep..

Jobs is right, in terms of the sad realization that 'people don't read anymore' - arguments from the peanut gallery on this thread of "I read voraciously" are irrelevant, as the remaining 99% of the population are NOT like you, thinkman -- they may be closer to the likes of testudo... clueless morons.

Sadly, the majority of people, and particularly those who should know better, read less, or not at all. It explains the general state of idiocracy in our society.

    I read

And I just read a comment that looks like it was posted to the wrong story.

And that's because the macnn geniuses can't figure out how to fix the annoyingness of their message boards (which, BTW, they DID fix on MacNN itself).

And for those who didn't know, the problem stems from opening several windows/tabs at once. Apparently the forum software stores the last window opened and posts your comments to that forum, regardless of which window you're actually in. You can fix it by remembering to refresh the tab you're in first, but who remembers all the time.

    on topic...

This looks like a pretty decent monitor.

If Apple doesn't get their act together and release some new monitors pretty soon, this may be the one to replace my ancient 20" Mitsubishi CRT... even though it still works well and still looks pretty good.
