Verizon Gleam Purple

Verizon today made one of its first phone releases of the new year with an update to the Samsung Gleam. The new version of the clamshell phone switches from the relatively safe black and bronze color scheme of the original to a new version with bright purple edges and a gray main body. Fitting in with the theme of the phone, it also has new "living wallpaper" that matches the time of the day with either a rural or urban backdrop.

The phone is otherwise close in spirit to the original with a 2-megapixel camera, external music controls, and both Bluetooth with stereo audio as well as a microSD slot that stores up to 4GB of removable media. Verizon intends to make the phone available both online and in stores as of Friday the 25th at a price of $100 with a two-year contract and rebate, lower than a similar $130 price for the more ordinary Gleam.
