NEC 3-Series LCDs

Display builder NEC has launched the 3-Series, a replacement for its 2-Series line of AccuSync LCD monitors. All of the five monitors in the series have a native resolution of 1280x1024, with a 5ms response time and 300cd/m2 brightness. Major splits begin with a division into 17- and 19-inch sizes, and in the case of the ASLCD73VXM and ASLCD93VXM, the inclusion of built-in speakers.

The 17-inch screens have a 700:1 contrast ratio, while this is boosted to 800:1 on the two 19-inch sets. Reuniting the sets again is the inclusion of the new "Eco Mode," meant to both conserve power and extend the usable life of each panel. Prices start at $225 for the ASLCD73VX monitors, run to $240 for the ASLCD73VXM and $255 for the ASLCD93VX, and finally top out at $275 for the ASLCD93VXM.
