Samsung fashion phones

Among a host of new phones unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, Samsung has announced several fashion-oriented models. The preeminent one is likely to be the F480, which uses a 2.8-inch, QVGA touchscreen with tactile feedback for each button press. It additionally features 3G, an FM tuner, and 240MB of internal storage, complemented by microSD cards. The still camera meanwhile is a five-megapixel autofocus model, complete with LED flash. It should ship to Europe in April or May for €350-400 ($508-580).

The G400 is a unique clamshell in that both its internal and external screens are touch-capable, the external one controlling music playback. It is also enclosed in an all-metal casing, and has a five-megapixel camera like that of the F480 except that it is missing flash. FM radio, 100MB of storage and a microSD slot round out hardware. It should be ready in April or May for €300 ($435).

The L310 clamshell is clad in black, brown and gold, but is oriented exclusively at women, as suggested by an illuminating floral etching. There is no external display, but it does have a two-megapixel camera and a number of original software applications.

The L320 uses a striped, rounded, multi-color design, and is equipped with FM radio, digital music playback, a two megapixel camera and a microSD slot. Exact release dates and prices are unclear.

The L170 is an ultra-slim candybar phone with radio and music playback, and a two megapixel camera. It is expected to ship in March for €175 ($254). An alternative may be the J150, which is actually cheaper despite being thinner and built of metal. This comes from a step down to a 65K display and a 1.3-megapixel camera, though Bluetooth is present. Cost is expected to be €120-130 ($174-189).

The J700 is a compact slider with a 1.3-megapixel camera, FM radio and a microSD slot. It should be out in March for €130-140 ($189-203). Finally, the L770 sports a mirrored finish and UMTS broadband, along with radio and a two-megapixel camera. It will be out in April for €260-280 ($377-406). [via Mobile-review]
