Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP
Dell has begun selling the UltraSharp 2408WFP, its newest LCD monitor. The screen is a companion to the 3008WFP, and is only the second model from Dell to support DisplayPort technology. DisplayPort is a simpler kind of video input that should eventually replace DVI and VGA, and possibly HDMI in some cases, due to an absence of licensing fees. The 2408 in fact supports all of the above connections, as well as component, S-Video and composite inputs.
The 2408 shrinks down in size to 24 inches, but retains a native 1920x1200 resolution, and sports a 6ms response time with a 3,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. TrueColor technology is said to enable a 110 percent color gamut, a feature that may be of most importance to photographers, illustrators and other visual artists. Dell is shipping the 2408WFP now for $699.

Good looking

I hate to say it, but that's a pretty nice looking monitor with good specs and at a decent price.
The big question is how to remove the hideous DELL logo from the front bezel.
Hammer and chisel. Xacto knife? Sandpaper? Melt it off?

Dell's Ultrasharp flat panels are really nice, and cheaper than the comparable ACDs. I have a Dell 20" right now and it's a fantastic monitor. I wouldn't hesitate to get this one if I had a spare $700. It's almost definitely worth the price.

I'll admit ... Dell produces nice displays. They aren't as stylish as the Apple displays but you can't beat the price or specs. I have a Dell 20" Wide.

these are nice units... I have two Dell 24" and really like 'em. The stand is sturdy and quickly removed, color is great, backlighting even. And the extra ports really come in handy for gaming or PIP TV while working.

I have two 20" Dells

I have two 20" Dell LCDs connected to my Mac Pro. I like Apple LCDs, but not the price of them. Also note: Apple and Dell get the actual LCD displays from the same manufacturer. Also... Dell offers a 3 year warranty compared to Apple's one year.

OMG, not a good move...!

...I just made the move from a Apple cinema Display to the new DELL 2408WFP and I can assure you guys it's going back into the box and to the hole it cam from...
...Specs on paper doesn't mean a thing compare to real life experience...My 3 years Cinema Display look sharper better in all the ways but the thing that make me really mad is that color effect around small type...Instead of being black you have a small color effect around the black, mostly red...I makes you wont to focus all the time but the problem is not your eyes, it's the monitor...
...Very disappointed, do you self a favor, stick with Apple Cinema Displays please...
