Goldmund launches ultra-luxurious Blu-ray player

Swiss company Goldmund, a home theater builder which caters to the super-rich, says it is finally releasing its first Blu-ray movie player. The Eidos 20 BD was slated to be released at a later date, the company suggests, but due to the rapid failure of HD DVD, it is being launched early to gain industry attention. The 20 is said to contain extreme attention to detail -- among its components is a custom power supply circuit, aimed at reducing minute flaws in the dynamics and stability of output.

The player also uses what is described as "mechanical grounding," a design meant to eliminate any possible vibrations that could affect the video signal or the disc. The company is otherwise reticent to describe features; it will however say that the player costs $16,900, and that orders are now being accepted. [Image via SlashGear]
