Windows, Xbox Live issues
Some users of Microsoft's "Live" services have reported difficulties trying to sign in with their Windows Live IDs. According to The Associated Press the problem is affecting many services, such as the Xbox Live community, as well as the Windows Live Messenger application. The issue is not comprehensive, as some users are able to sign in to the services without an issue. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem, but did not mention when a fix would be available.
"We are aware that some customers may be experiencing difficulty accessing their Windows Live accounts," said Samantha McManus, spokesperson for Microsoft. "We're actively investigating the cause and are working to take the appropriate steps to remedy the situation as rapidly as possible."

I've been a Mac user for about 12 years now (yes a switcher) but I have to tell you, my hotmail / live mail service is far more reliable than my .mac mail account.
