Nav N Go iPhone GPS

Ahead of Apple's official announcement of the iPhone software developer's kit, Nav N Go unveiled an iPhone GPS unit at the CeBIT 2008 conference in Hanover, Germany. According to Pocket-lint.co.uk, the device combines Nav N Go's iGO My Way 8 satnav software with an "upcoming, yet to be announced iPhone GPS receiver". The current distribution of the software requires a jailbroken iPhone, but could receive the official nod later today.

When Pocket-lint.co.uk writer Amy-Mae Elliott asked the Nav N Go representative for information, but received evasive answers regarding how the GPS functions.

    Good to see...

Yet another feature I'm waiting to see before I buy iPhone.

Dam, not completely sure how I feel about this. One one hand, GPS = GREAT.

But on the other, since we now know that SDK-apps won't have access to the dock connector, does this mean the only options for GPS will either be unsigned/jailbroken applications? I guess if it works it works but with the influx of great applications for the iphone coming, I'd just like for it to be as seamless as possible. But I'm beginning to worry that Apple is not going to move forward to help put third party GPS on the phone until they and Google build it into the next hardware revision.

    iPhone GPS module

The project for bringing you a cheap and affordable, small size, nice-looking GPS plug-in for you iPhone/iTouch is on its way ( note this is different from the locoGPS unit)

I have created a blog that tracks the progress of the project:

There are three polls on the blog. Please vote to let me know what you think.
