Acer New Notebook March
Acer will reveal a new concept design for a notebook PC tomorrow, the company has announced today. The computer builder is short on details but says the debut will represent a "worldwide launch" for the new style, suggesting a major update rather than a minor change to an existing design. The introduction is likely to involve the company's new 16- and 18.5-inch media notebooks, both of which will include extra-wide 1080p displays as well as a Blu-ray drive.
The company chief has already indicated in the past that prices will start from $1,900, though the high-end focus also points to dedicated graphics, high-end Intel Core 2 Duo processors, and a large amount of RAM.
Acer in the past year has shifted more of its attention to notebook design and released the Gemstone design (pictured) for its Aspire line to spark desire for its lineup, which more often centers around budget computers. The maneuver helped Acer claim third place in notebook marketshare rankings and spurred the company to expand its lineup towards premium models, including a now ill-fated HD DVD system.
