Austrian iPhone details

Confirming earlier reports about an Austrian iPhone, T-Mobile appears to have a website prepared for a launch tomorrow. According to the page, handsets will be priced at €399 for the 8GB version, and €499 for 16GB. T-Mobile is offering two different rates for monthly plans, one at €39, and one at €55. The lower priced plan includes 1000 minutes for all networks, and 25 Cents for text messages, while the upper plan includes 1000 SMS messages, 1000 minutes on T-Mobile networks, and 1000 minutes for others.

As with other iPhone carriers, the Austrian plans both include unlimited data and visual voicemail. Business customers are also entitled to use VPN with the device, as an included feature of the plans.

While still unofficial, the plans compare favorably to those in Germany, a country which also claims T-Mobile as its exclusive iPhone carrier. There, a similarly-priced €49 plan provides just 100 minutes and 40 SMS messages, with only the €89 plan offering an identical number of minutes and still providing fewer SMS messages.

T-Mobile clarified that the plans would be subject to a 3GB data cap for EDGE access.

maybe when t-mobile enters the market we'll get it. in the meantime, rogers/fido is stalling interest by introducing consumer plans for blackberry and windows mobile devices. good luck on that one rogers.
