Dell 2009W

Dell today quietly introduced the 2009W. This replacement LCD for the mid-grade 2007WFP is both less expensive while also more accurate: the 2009W can reproduce 102% of the NTSC color range and boosts the contrast ratio from 800:1 to 2,000:1 through dynamic adjustments. The panel is also much faster for games and fast-action movies with a 5ms average pixel response time.

The 2009W is likewise said to improve on its predecessor's connections with HDCP encryption support for its DVI connector, allowing it to display some protected HD videos. It also sports VGA input for analog video and a four-port USB hub. Dell is currently selling its latest display for $289.

Love 'em

I almost hate to admit it, but I really like Dell's line of LCD displays. All my Macs are set up with the ultrasharp models, and they provide a great price / performance ratio.

Now this new 20" has some exciting specs, but seems to sport the older and better bezel stand.

It's the one thing

It is the one thing about Apple's current line-up I've found unlikeable-their monitors. Whiile they are top drawer, they run about a third more than ones made by the competition. I've got a two monitor work station and the smaller screen is a 19 inch envision. Not bad, but when I see a photo on that or my iMac's 24 inch lcd, the difference is noticeable.I've been looking forward to retiring the envision, but it just keeps a ticking. I am considering a refurb 23 Apple monitor, but these others are surely worth considering.

22? I think you mean 23

Perhaps you where using hyperboli, but I don't think Apples makes a 22 inch monitor.

At the projected price of $289 you could get 2.4 of these for the equivalent Apple model. Not sure it's worth it. A refurbished monitor is only 50 dollars less.

I'll be looking for an enclosure that will compliment the 24inch iMac design-current-and have some pretty decent specs to boot.

You may have been thinking about the Apple 30 inch, which would get you 5 of these dells easy.

I can't help but think, apple will have to drop the price on these monitors in their next iteration. Who knows though, they may go high def, add a iSight and keep the price the same. That would be a typical Apple upgrade/cost path.

I agree

Apple's monitors just don't cut it. It isn't even as if they even match the look of the rest of their hardware.

I love Macs but honestly their monitors, mice and keyboards are way over priced and hard to use.

Good thing about Apple monitors is their color consistency, great for video and print work.

Apple Monitors

I thought that I didn't want to shell out the extra for an apple Monitor... I was wrong. I got a samsung and although I'm sure it's a great monitor in it's right. the color and the brightness was so far off. I then got an apple cinema display (refurbished) and it's perfect. I tried my friends dell and even though it's in theory the same LCD.. the backlighting AND the color balance was superb. a Dell monitor plus the cost of a callibrater=Apple Cinema Display

Hate to admit it

I upgraded to an apple 23 inch from an older 20-inch easel style...and I love it. I tried about four monitors (Dell, Sony, NEC...) and they were all pretty bad...except the Sony, which was pretty good. Really, the apple did the best job of color matching from Aperture (used the spyder on all). The Apple monitor provided the best overall image and video.
