NEC introduces NP-series mobile projectors

NEC announced the release of two mobile projectors on Monday, the NP100 and NP200, aimed for use in small or home offices and developing businesses. Both look nearly identical and feature Texas Instruments’ DLP technology that allows for a 1,300:1 contrast ratio. The NP100 has just SVGA (800x600) resolution, while the NP200 increases that sharpness to XGA (1024x768) for computers and other high-resolution sources.

Connections common to both NP projectors include a monitor output, VGA, S-Video and composite video and audio inputs as well as component input via a 15-pin adapter. A freeze function, digital zoom, mute and direct source changes are accessed via the included remote control. Aspect ratios of 4:3, 16:9 and native can be selected, with mounting options including front, rear, table-top and ceiling.

The NP100 is rated at 2,000 lumens, with the NP200 slightly brighter at 2,100 lumens. Digital keystone correction is an integrated feature in both systems. Battery life is rated at between 3,500 and 4,000 hours for the projectors, and both have a built-in speaker. The NP100 and NP200 will be available in April and carry estimated prices of $499 and $649, respectively.
