WD My Passport Elite drive
Hard drive maker Western Digital has announced a new line of external USB drives, the My Passport Elites. The drives weigh less than 5oz, and are in theory small enough to fit in a pocket; they are nevertheless entirely USB powered, and are available in 250 and 320GB capacities. Like some other WD drives an external gauge shows how much space is left, and files are safeguarded using 128-bit encryption. Automatic backup software is included.
The Elites also come with a five-year warranty, and are now shipping in four different colors, including red, blue, bronze and silver. The 250GB drive costs $170, while the 320GB model is $200. Mac users require Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later; Windows users must have 2000, XP or Vista.

Are these any good?

These seem rather nice. Has anyone used WD portable drives with their Mac?

I'm wondering if this is the usual Windows Only tag or have they decided to play more nice with the Macs?

so guys, if this drive is usb powered, would an Airport base Station (n) have enough power from its usb port to make this drive useable for Time Machine? TIA Frank
