LG Vu heads to Rogers

A Canadian carrier may beat AT&T to shipping one of LG's iPhone competitors, an announcement suggests. Rogers Wireless has revealed that it will put the Vu touchscreen phone on sale in early May, despite the fact that AT&T has delayed its launch of the phone to an unknown timeframe. Through Rogers, the Vu will have access to radio- and video-on-demand services, mobile TV, and the option to buy downloadable music. Supported e-mail clients will include Rogers, Yahoo and Hotmail.

Aside from its touchscreen, the Vu is notable for having "full" HTML browsing capabilities, something shared by a minority of cellphones that includes the iPhone. It also operates on HSPA networks as fast as 7.2Mbps, twice the worldwide average, and its camera is a two-megapixel autofocus model. Up to 4GB of memory is supported.
