Sanyo intros ultra-bright portable projectors

Sanyo on Tuesday announced the addition of two new portable multimedia projectors to its T-series line-up, the PLC-ET30L and PLC-XT21/L. With 1400x1050-pixel (SXGA+) resolution and 4200 lumens brightness, the ET30L offers consumers a less costly alternative to pricey 1080p projectors. The XT32/L, meantime, is a value-priced 1024x768 (XGA), 4,000 lumens unit that replaces the company's volume XT20. Both are meant for use in classroom, boardroom or other areas where significant ambient light might be necessary.

Users can view the projected image and control the projector via a network, interfacing via a web browser, thanks to an optional networking module for either model that includes a camera and Sanyo's PJ Master Software. Emails keep these remote users notified of projector status, including maintenance needs.

Noteworthy inputs on either model include DVI-D, VGA, composite, S-Video and a type B USB. The sole video output is via a 15-pin D-sub. Audio is output via a built-in speaker or mini-jack output and two sets of RCA outputs.

The ET30 includes a remote jack for a wired or wireless IR remote control, along with a mouse pad and laser pointer.

The PLC-ET30L carries a price of $6,500 and can only be purchased without a lens, while the PLC-XT21/L with lens costs nearly $5,000 or $4,500 without. Both are available in April.
