Tuesday, April 22nd3K unveils 2lb ultraportable with Linux
3K Computers today unveiled the Longitude 400 Mini Notebook, an ultraportable that features a 7 inch LCD and full size keyboard in a 2 pound design. The Longitude features a 400Mhz single-core processor, with 512MB of RAM and a 4GB internal flash drive for data storage. 3K also provides 802.11b/g wireless connectivity, and a 10/100 Ethernet port for networking. The Longitude 400 is available directly from 3K Computers for $400.
The Longitude 400 also includes three USB 2.0 ports, a "Windows-friendly" Linux operating system, Microsoft Office-equivalent software, internet software, and media players. 3K offers a one year warranty on the Longitude 400.

I can use few gadgets like this but they need to have DVD playback, the OS can be whatever they put on it because i only want to use them as portable players and casual entertainment. I hope Apple will soon have something for this segment like a small affordable tablet.

When people complained the MBA was underpowered, they were rebuffed because that wasn't the market.
Interesting idea though, but does it fit in the pocket like an iPhone? If not then old iBooks can be bought for the same price and the ibooks are faster.
