Verizon VZ Navigator v.4

Verizon Wireless on Wednesday announced its fourth and newest version of the VZ NavigatorSM navigation software for mobile phones is available in select phones. The new software promises to give users in 75 cities across the US information on traffic, movie times and events, weather forecasts and gasoline prices at close-by stations. In addition, the maps can now be viewed in a 3D perspective, as seen from behind the windshield of a car.

The location-based service does not require a GPS receiver, but instead relies on the carrier's network towers and data to send information to the handset. As such, users can search for show times, reviews, and other information on concerts, games, sporting events, plays and more by their proximity to each venue. Gas stations can likewise be sorted based on the price of gas, and once chosen, the software will provide directions to get users to the location. Real-time weather reports and forecasts automatically update based on the phone's location.

The VZ Navigator Version 4 is available now at a cost of $10 for unlimited monthly access or $3 for one-day use on 27 Get It Now phones, with airtime and data charges applying.
