Friday, May 9thHTC Touch Diamond already at FCC
HTC's Touch Diamond smartphone has already appeared at the FCC through a filing published today. Though the phone was only announced as shipping for the second half of 2008 in North America, the device has already been passed through the US agency for approval in the US, including its operating frequencies and placement of an FCC label.
However, the version submitted lacks testing for the 850MHz frequency preferred for GSM calls by AT&T and T-Mobile and therefore hints that the device is the international model being cleared for roaming use in the US. The appearance nonetheless suggests aggressive preparation for the Touch Diamond's American debut, most of whose details remain unclear. Earlier leaks have alluded to a fall launch at Sprint for a CDMA model, but no rumors have yet indicated a release with American GSM carriers. The phone may follow the model for the Touch DUAL and have the Diamond ship as an unlocked phone. [via WirelessInfo]
