Rogers confirms BlackBerry Bold for Canada

Rogers today confirmed that it would carry the BlackBerry Bold for Research in Motion's home country. The smartphone will make use of Rogers' 3G network and isn't expected to lose any features in the transition, including its GPS and Wi-Fi. By using the newer cellular data standard, the Bold is the first BlackBerry on Rogers' network to allow Internet access without interrupting phone calls.

The phone hasn't yet received its official release date or price, though RIM officially releases the device in the summer and is understood to be pricing the phone between $300 and $500 depending on the presence of a contract; historical experience with Rogers would price the Bold at $300 with a three-year plan. Rogers is taking sign-ups for notifications as of today.
