T-Mobile MDA devices

T-Mobile on Wednesday unveiled three new HTC phones at an international press conference: the MDA Compact IV, MDA Vario IV, and the Ameo 16GB. The MDA Compact IV – what appears to be a variant of the HTC Touch Diamond – offers users a 3D interface shown on a high-resolution 640 by 480 screen, and is the second device to use Windows Mobile 6.1. The device is HSDPA-enabled, supporting 7.2 Mbit/s downstream, and 1.4Mbit up, and boasts a 3.2 Megapixel camera with 4GB of internal flash storage.

The Vario is designed as a messenging companion, offering a slide-out side keyboard with a full QWERTY layout. It is optimized for email, SMS, multimedia messages, contacts and the calendar function. Like the Compact, it also features a 3.2 Megapixel camera and HSDPA access, but also adds a built-in GPS receiver.

The Ameo 16GB is a full size message station, complete with a large fold-out QWERTY keyboard, and will also run on Windows Mobile 6.1. T-Mobile will make the Ameo 16GB available in July.

    The action specs

All three devices have VGA screens, all 3 have HSDPA, all three have GPS receivers. All three have accelerometers. The MDA Compact and Vario have FM Receivers.

The MDA Vario IV in addition has a slide-out keyboard and VGA out, so can be used for presentations.
