New Eee PC debut official

A larger, 10-inch version of ASUS's 10-inch have been rumored for over a month now, and today's reports have the new not-so-ultra-mobile laptop officially launching at the Computex trade show on Tuesday. The 10-inch Eee PC will likely run on Intel's new energy-efficient Atom chips, which are slated for launch at the same time, and also expected to debut in the 8.9-inch Eee PC 901 next week.

To be called either the 1001 or 1000, the 10-inch Eee PC will likely launch at the same time or just ahead of its competitor, the MSI Wind. The Wind will also use Atom chips, and a bare-bones system with a Linux OS is estimated to cost in the $400 range. The reports have the 10-inch Eee PC going on sale in the UK this November, and a similar release in North America is expected. Pricing has not been revealed, although it will be more than the $550 ASUS is asking for the Eee PC 900.
