ASUS Wireless USB Displays

ASUS and Realtek on Friday said they would team up to introduce a computer display based on Wireless USB. Using a built-in Wireless USB adapter, a future ASUS display line will connect to a host computer without using any cables or requiring special setup; like most wired USB displays, the screen will automatically configure itself and make adding one or more displays largely a matter of plugging in the display's power cable.

Technical details of the ASUS screen beyond its Wireless USB support are absent but will likely encounter similar limitations to existing USB monitor technology, including sluggish performance with 3D and other technologies that put a strain on both the main system processor and the USB path. Wireless USB is also a short-range technology and operates within about 33 feet of the transmitter.

Neither ASUS nor Realtek has hinted as to when displays will be ready but indicate that there will be multiple products.
