ASUS EzLink monitors

ASUS recently announced it will soon launch two new LCD monitors, the VW223B and VW202B, with EzLink connection technology. The 22-inch widescreen VW223B and 20.1-inch widescreen VW202B will be the first to feature EzLink, which will allow users to connect up to six of the monitors to a PC or notebook with only a USB 2.0 interface, not requiring additional graphics cards. Both new monitors feature WSXGA+ (1680x1050) resolution.

Before connecting each monitor, an EzLink driver needs to be installed on the PC in question. The software will automatically place all windows from secondary monitors back on the main display once the USB connection is broken. Upon reconnection, the monitors return to their previous configurations. Both monitors sport a 300cd/m2 brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, along with a 5 ms response time. Apart from the larger screen size, the VW223B's biggest trump card over the VW202B is its integrated 3-port USB hub.

Either EzLink display will be available in black only, although ASUS has not revealed prices or release dates.
